About New Iron®

New Iron is an Iron amino acid chelate complex with added vitamins which is the combination of choice for pregnant women, sport enthusiasts and anyone lacking iron for various reasons (growth spurts, adolescence, menstruation, vegetarian and vegan diets).

The best iron

Research shows that only 2-14% of inorganic iron is absorbed by the body due to the iron-binding ions found in these compounds which can inhibit the absorption of other minerals (calcium) or vitamins (vitamin C and E) when taken at the same time. In contrast to other forms of iron, the iron amino acid chelates in New Iron® do not inhibit the absorption of other minerals.

Compared to iron sulphate, glycine amino-acid chelates have a better absorption rate of 70-75% and a four-times higher bioavailability rate which ensures a higher concentration of iron in the body.

When taken at the correct dosage, glycine amino- acid chelates don’t have any side effects such as digestive problems, constipation and nausea.

Advantages of New Iron®

New Iron contains iron amino-acid chelates which are characterised by:

  • Small and stable molecules with no ion charge: this structure is resistant to hydrolysis due to stomach acid and to splitting caused by enzymes in the gut. This means that a large part of the iron amino-acid chelate molecule is available for absorption.
  • High bioavailability (easy absorption): 70-75% better absorption and 4-times higher bioavailability compared to iron sulphate.
  • Uninhibited absorption of other vitamins and minerals.
  • Safety: 2.6 times safer than iron sulphate and safer than typical inorganic iron from food or dietary supplements. Despite increased bioavailability it is exceptionally safe. Controlled absorption ensures that the body only absorbs the amount of iron that it is lacking.
  • No undesirable side effects such as digestive problems, constipation and nausea. Many of those involved in the study reported significantly fewer digestive problems when taking iron amino-acid chelate compared to iron sulphate, which is often associated with these undesirable side effects.
  • The coating of the capsules are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  • It also includes folic acid and vitamin B12.  Anaemia is caused by a lack of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid, so it is important to take all three.
  • Vitamin C further improves the absorption of iron so it is important to combine both.

But don't just take our word for it!

"After just one week I noticed an improvement"

"Over the summer I became increasingly aware of my health and started to work on getting back into shape. I had started a special diet (and besides this I also don’t eat meat or fish) which started to influence my general health- everything became quite stressful, I didn’t feel right and I felt tired and dizzy. Somebody recommended that I take iron supplements. I did some research on the internet and came across New Iron. A month ago I therefore decided to try it due to the advantage of the fact that it doesn’t affect digestion like other forms of iron do, it contains other ingredients such as vitamin C, which is needed for better absorption of iron and I also need it to strengthen my immune system. It also contains B12 which is important as I don’t eat meat or fish.

After just one week I noticed an improvement - I had more energy and didn’t feel dizzy anymore. Given that I have a sensitive stomach, I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to take it but I haven’t had any problems at all. It really is a good product."

"I would like to say how grateful I am for the benefits of New Iron capsules"

"My husband took it for several months as he was bleeding due to radiation therapy. Despite the bleeding his blood count remained normal and his haeamoglobin levels even improved. The doctors (his personal doctor and the doctor at the oncology institute) were surpised that his blood was still okay despite the bleeding.

The bleeding however got worse and he was hospitalized and received a blood transfusion. He stopped taking New Iron and his haemoglobin levels got worse.

Now he is at home and the bleeding has stopped. He has decided to take New Iron capsules again as his haemoglobin levels are so low. We are convinced that they will have the same positive effect as the first time."

"By all means I would recommend New Iron because I feel better and have more energy"

Given that I was constantly tired trying to cope with three kids, celiac disease and a very stressful job, my doctor prescribed me iron injections as my iron levels were completely depleted. I then continued with iron preparations which didn’t really agree with me and I always felt unwell after taking them. My colleague then recommended New Iron to me, which I initially dismissed as just another marketing exploit. She didn’t give up though so I tried it anyway and now regularly take it during menstruation and when I am stressed, as that is when I burn up my iron stores. In comparison with other iron preparations, New Iron doesn’t make me feel sick and at work I am able to better deal with stressful situations. By all means I would recommend New Iron because I feel better and have more energy.

The role of iron

Iron is an essential mineral which is present in all cells in the body and facilitates the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. It contributes to the transport of oxygen around the body and in reducing tiredness and exhaustion. Most of the iron (almost two-thirds) is found in haemoglobin, which provides oxygen to the body. The remainder is found in myoglobin (protein which provides the muscle tissue with oxygen), ferritin (protein which ensures correct use of iron in the body) and in several important enzymes, which help produce collagen.

Symptoms of iron deficiency

  • Chronic fatigue and weakness
  • Headaches, dizziness
  • Restlessness
  • Poor concentration
  • Slow cognitive and social development in childhood
  • Difficulties in maintaining body temperature (feeling cold)
  • Weakened immune system and increased susceptibility to infection
  • Swollen tongue, cracks in the corner of the mouth
  • Long term iron deficiency can lead to Anaemia (symptoms include paleness, tiredness, nausea)

Who is susceptible to iron deficiency?

  • Rapidly-growing children
  • Pregnant women (who have an increased need for iron to care for the embryo
and due to an increased volume of blood)
  • Menstruating women
  • Vegetarians and vegans (the bioavailability from plant sources is considerably lower than that of animal sources)
  • Athletes
  • Anaemic patients
  • Regular blood donors
  • Patients suffering from illnesses which negatively affect the absorption of iron in the intestine (coeliac disease, infections etc) or chronic bleeding
